Hollywood Park Race Four
Race four at Hollywood Park is a 1 and 1/16th mile $32,000 Maiden Claiming for three year olds and upward. This race had a twelve horse field, but there have been a couple late scratches. The 4, 8 and 11 have been scratched. For me, there are two horses worth looking at—Handsome Lover and Silver and Black.
Handsome Lover, my favorite, is listed as 5-2 in the morning line and Silver and Black is listed at 5-1 in the morning line. Handsome Lover is being ridden by P. Valenzuela at a weight of 117. His last race was on May 3rd at Hollywood Park–$25,000 Maiden. He took the lead, but was caught and finished second by 3/4ths of a length. He had a 68 Beyer and is expected to improve for this race.
Silver and Black is an interesting horse, because he is dropping in class. He has two races this year. One was a $80,000 Maiden at Santa Anita. He gained late and finished third, 8 1/2 off the lead. Last race out was on April 29th at Hollywood Park (47k Maiden Special Weight). He was a non-factor in the 1 and 1/16th mile race. Since that race, he has been working out, with the last workout being 8 days ago.
I really like Handsome Lover to pull off this race and break his Maiden. He’s built for this distance and should have a great race.
