For The Money
Barbaro made it out of the six-hour surgery and has as 50-50 chance to make it according to the surgeon. He is doing better today and is standing. He’s definitely receiving the best possible treatment. His incident brings up shady intentions at Pimlico Track. At the Preakness, Barbaro broke through the gate prematurely. It takes a lot of force to do that and he could have easily been injured. It’s also well-known that breaking through a gate is never a good sign. Why did they get him back into the gate so fast? The only answer is: the money. There was so much money at stake with Barbaro at least coming out of the gate. Scratching him would have been a financial nightmare. It was far better, financially, for Barbaro to come out and pull up. So is it possible that money was put ahead of the horses health? You decide.
